Planes, Trains and Automobiles

We were unable to get a direct flight to China, so it was an adventure getting here. We drove to Chicago on Monday and picked up our Visas at the Chinese consulate. On Tuesday, we flew from Chicago to Japan, which took about 13 hours. In Japan, we had a 4 ½ hour layover, followed by a 3 ¾ hours flight to Shanghai. A shuttle bus was supposed to pick us up, but we could not find it. Eventually, we were able to find a lady who helped us call the hotel. About 1 ½ hours later, we were on the shuttle headed for the hotel. Fortunately, Marshall, Daniel, Trevor and Victoria were able to sleep for about 4 hours before we needed to take another train. I, on the other hand, was so mixed up on time that after sleeping only one hour, thought that it was 4 hours later and got ready for the day. At 5:30 am, we left for the train station to take a train to Nanchang in Jiangxi Province.
